Walkthrough (The Lost Age)

Chapter 7: Through the Yampi Desert

So the Yampi Desert will lead you towards Alhafra, where you'll have the opportunity to get a ship for your travels. First of all run southeast here, the other ways are deand ends. You'll thereby come to a chest after you've punded a trunk. Inside it lies the Guardian Ring that has immense protecting abilities. Only a few steps further and you'll already be in the next area.

The start of the desert. Felix got a Guardian Ring.

Here you'll come to meet a group of travellers led by none other than the mayor of Madra himself! I'm surely remember, in Madra only his wife had been at home, she gave you permission to cross the brige to Osenia. The group itself doesn't really know where to go at the moment, no path further came to their eyes yet... From the group on run further southeast and you'll come to the next part of the desert.

Madra's group doesn't know what to do. We'll do that, somehow...

This area will be a really huge one, but amongst other things you'll also find the next Jupiter Djinni here! Right east of the entrance there's a trunk, pound it and run first north, then further to the very east. In the north there's another wooden trunk near the wall, pound it as well and proceed. Follow the northern wall to the left, then you'll come to a chest with an Antidote.

The 'Pound'! Here it then goes further. Felix got an Antidote.

Right at the northern wall, near the chest, there's another trunk. When you've gotten rid of it you'll face hidden stepladder. Climb it up and follow the whole long path. Jump to and over the small isles in the desert. Finally you'll arrive at the Jupiter Djinni... After a short fight "Blitz" will be yours!

To the djinni! Jenna found Blitz.

East of the island on which there was also the djinni sitting you'll find a notch in the ground that you can slide down. That way come down of the plateau and do so. Afterwards simply follow the area till its end.

After you've slid down.

Sadly the next area will be anything other than interesting. Heal yourselves and pick up the Psynergy Stone here, then smash the trunk with Pound. Climb up the steps and proceed northwards.

Pick up the Psynergy Stone.

Now that's something! A mysterious creature's creeping around in the desert sand here, but what could it be? Apparently it's moving back and forth in a circle around the four trunk roots! Pound the one tree trunk into the ground, this will disturb the being and make it retreat. It is – as you can see – a quite enormous scorpion! Follow it eastwards.

Cut its way off... A scorpion!

Very similar picture now also in this area. Once more you'll have to pound a trunk in order to disturb the giant scorpion. But be careful to not do so until the scorpion has passed the trunk from south into northern direction! Otherwise it'll just keep going in circles beneath you. But if you did it right it'll flee to the north, so better go after it now!

He's fleeing northwards!

This will be the last area in which you'll have to chase around the scorpion. Although it's rather similar to the previews two areas there are a few things to keep in mind here. There are two trunks here, first go to the right one. As soon as the scorpion's crawled through below this trunk from east to west you should ram it into the ground with a Pound. If everything was done correctly the scorpion will now flee into northern direction and hide in the sand. Approach it! Once you're near it the scorpion will jump out and make you fall through the ground... And the arachnid's trap will most likely lead you straight to its personal pantry!

The next stake. The scorpion's trap! That fellow's hungry...
Rex Scorpio
Rex Scorpio King Scorpion appeared! HP: 1064
The fight against this sightly oversized scorpion beast is actually a quite simple one, as long as you keep an eye on your characters' health. The scorpion has a few really strong attacks at hand, one of them's even able to poison you – so better carry some Antidotes or Herbs with you before entering the fight, another possibility is Felix' Cure. But apart from this the scorpion won't be much of a threat to you, especially if you've bought some good armour in Madra. Felix is actually better off if he's simply attacking, Jenna and Cosma on the other hand should use magic. Let the red-haired girl cast her Fume, but the blonde one Plasma instead. Then don't forget to heal in case of emergency and the fight should be decided really soon! For your victorey you'll receive 440 experience points, 228 coins as well as a Vial.

When the scorpion's been defeated you'll receive the Scoop Gem, an item through which you'll acquire the gift of Scoop. With this psynergy you'll be able to dig in loose earth and probably reveal a few valuable things that way. Well, at least it'd come quite in handy to get out of this place first! Right in the middle you can make out a circle in the ground, use the new Scoop psynergy on it! You certainly won't find oil and become rich, but at least the disclosed water fountain will bring you back to the surface.

Felix got the Scoop Gem. Do some drillings here...

Well, and now you'll have to go back to the area in which there's also the group from Madra resting... Either go all the way back by feet or use Retreat. South of the group there's a noticable spot within a sand circle... Use the Scoop here to reveal the entrance to a tunnel! Climb down the ladder.

A ladder!

Here then run through the underground tunnel and climb back to the surface. Here you'll now be standing near an oasis. Go up the ladder next to it and just follow the path further. Once you're approaching the travelling group again they'll notice you and huriedly take the tunnel discovered by you themselves. They'll then rest at the oasis, but for you it's the way further north now that matters!

An underground tunnel! Oh, an oasis! A miracle has happened.

In the large desert area in which you're now there quite a few things to be found hidden beneath the desert sand! Dig a little with your new magic, maybe you'll find a few treasures that way? Eventually you'll find the entrance to the next tunnel in the north.

Before the next cave.

Actually this cave only consists of streaming rivers of sand. They can carry you through the whole cave, but you'll have to use them wisely to come to the end! But there are also a few valuable things to get here, which we're going to do now. First of all let the sand stream carry you until you're at the northern wall. Now get off the stream and go along the northern wall so that you'll come on solid ground again. After that you can let yourselves be carried to a chest with a Hard Nut in the south. But afterwards run along the northern wall here and fight your way through the sand stream until you come to an area leading to another chest. Jam into the gap, pound the pillar and go to the chest. Inside it there's a very strong Blow Mace.

Felix got a Hard Nut. Felix got a Blow Mace. Finally at the exit...

Don't panic, it's not that far anymore until the exit! Once you're outside of the cave all you need to do is to follow the way to finally reach the next area.

It's not far anymore.

Climb down the steps in the wall in the south so that you'll come to the sandy ground. Run completely through it to the west, you'll soon come to a chest. Climb up the wall at the end again and then run through the many sandfalls back westwards. Here you'll get to a rope that you can quickly tighten with Lash. Now climb up to the sandfall.

And from start... ...to finish. Let the rope be tightened.

Here you should fall down that sandfall, but be careful to not go too far to the left! Otherwise you'll fall down to the very bottom again. If you made it, run to the chest. Inside it you can find a Trainer's Whip. Like the Mystery Card it's an item able to change your class, althrohgh I wouldn't recommend doin that. Jump down and proceed until you're in the very west again, then climb up once more. Instead of going east you should now be heading northwards! Climb up until you're at the springs of the two sandfalls. Jump down the eastern one of them and from there on going northeastwards is all that's left. The end of the desert is reached! Hoorray!

Felix got a Trainer's Whip. Before the exit.

And thus you're now close to Alhafra. Whether you'll finally get a ship there? You'll soon find out, so let's head straight to the next chapter!
