Chapter 3: The Kandorean Temple

In front of the temple gates two monks are standing guard. Unfortunately they'll have to tell you that their master currently wants to see no one and that you should better evaporate soon. You could, but won't!

Master Poi wants to see no one.

Now walk along the western temple wall. You'll come to a briar which surely doesn't only look rather suspicious to Kradn! Stand in front of the shrub and use Sheba's Whirlwind. A grotto will be instantly laid open! Enter it and follow the channel until you come to its end. Here climb zp the rope so that you'll get back to the surface again through the temple's well! From here you can enter the temple without any disturbances.

Kraden's thinking of something... Use 'Whirlwind'! Climbing up the well.

Here the pupils of Master Poi, the temple's leader, are currently busy demonstrating their abilities before their Master's critical eyes. They all accept their Master's criticism, but the last one of the monks still feels ready by now to tackle the last challenge of the Temple. Although Master Poi has his doubts about his intentions he'll still grant him entry to the all-deciding cave. Well then, he'll disappear in it! And as the entrance remains open thereafter you should do the same as well.

The monks are meditating. The pupil asks for entrance. Enter the cave!.

After only a few steps you'll already stumble across a treasure chest, which in itself is already rather strange. The question answers itself soon, as the alleged chest is in fact a monster in disguise, a Mimic! These creatures have already been part of the first game and are easily defeated with psynergy. Afterwards take the passage northeast of the entrance and run it through until the end. There a stairs will then lead you down.

Your first Mimic! The end of the first room.

Climb down the ladder before you in the following and go westwards in a zig-zag through the many pillars. Here you'll come to the little monk again, who now admits in his exhausted state to not be ready for the challenge yet. The way further is right next to him, a narrow path through a few pillars. A bit of illusion here's why it's so hard to make out. Climb up the following ladder and head along the way. You'll come towards the pillars from earlier, but what you'll have to do now is to jump over them! Do so correctly and enter the next area.

The little monk wasn't ready yet. An illusion? Jump over the pillars here.

Here now run further northwest until you come to a stairs, which you should go down. Climb down a ladder in the follow area and keep going south along the river until the wall of small rocks ends in the surf. Here you'll find a gap from where you enter a complex arrangement of rocks. It's very helpful to run here in order to resist the stream! At the end the path will lead to the next room.

Go down this stairs. Resist the stream!

In the room here you'll be able to make out two spots in the ground that the inner-cave stream lifts up from time to time. Use that to your advantage: Move the stone pillar near them onto one of the spots and the other one will be lifted up even higher due to the added pressure! Move the pillar onto the left spot first and step onto the right platform. It'll lead you to a higher level where there's a treasure chest with a Mystery Card, an item able to change your class. Go back and do the same with the pillar and the platform, but vice-versa this time. That'll eventually bring you to a further way.

First the left... Felix got the Mysterious Card. ..and finally the right spot!

Go to the ladder in the next room and climb it up, afterwards the path will lead you to a rope. Balance over it to the other end. Here you'll have to go to another stone pillar and move it forth. Jump over the small pit and move the pillar by hand for the rest of the way so that it eventually blocks the interfering stream. Now you can also cross the second rope unhindered. From there on don't go down the ladder, but the narrow path at the wall further. Jump over the following small valley in a kind of zig-zag, after another ladder you'll come into the next room.

Balance over the rope. The pillar blocks the stream. It's not that far anymore!

Here you'll instantly catch sight of a Mercury Djinni, at this point you won't be able to reach it, though. Therefore run further and come to the next area via a stairs. All that is still ahead of you now is however also just another stairs...

A Mercury Djinni!

The last room of the cave! Cut your way through it until you come to a sign behind which stands a boiling kettle. I have no clue how to interpret the sign, but the kettle can be comfortably pulled to the side with a Move. Jump over the fiery spot and head along the narrow path – three beast will be waiting for you here...

Cryptic writings on the sign. Move the kettle. The three Chestbeaters...
Chestbeaters
ChestbeaterChestbeaterChestbeater Chestbeaters appeared! HP: 155 (each)
The Chestbeaters aren't all too difficult enemies, but then again, they're the game's first boss fight! The quickest and easiest method to deal with them is to simply use your strongest psynergy against all three of them. Those could be Earthquake, Flare Wall and Ray, for example. With this simple strategy the Chestbeaters should be already beaten before they can even unfold their powers somehow! Simply attack them normally when you're running out of PP. After victoriously ending the fight you'll receive 120 experience points, 84 coins as well as a Nut.

A ladder will in an instant appear in front of you! Climb it up. Walk through the following passage that is already part of the temple building again. You'll come to Master Poi in his chamber. He's completely baffled as to why there's not one of his pupils standing in front of him, but strangers! Furthermore because you have apparently mastered the test, as the rope leading to his chamber hasn't been tighted. Which means he'll teach you the secret of Lash! It's a gift to all those who have mastered his challenge.

Kryptische Botschaften auf dem Schild. Verschiebt den Kessel. Die drei Silberrücken...

He'll personally demonstrate you the rare gift on a rope leading to the item that bears the power of Lash. And as he seems to like you and your cleverness he doesn't even mind that you're not one of his pupils! Climb up the rope to him. Then take the Lash Pebble from there! Equip it to one of your characters, then you'll be able to magically tighten any rope lying loose on the ground.

Poi demonstrates you the 'Lash'. Poi likes you! Felix erhält Seiltanz-Kiesel.

So why not immediately try out the new gift? The opportunity to do that you'll be given now. Remember the Mercury Djinni from earlier? Head back to it and use Lash on the rope. Climb up to the djinni and defeat it in battle. Thereupon the Mercury Djinni "Fog" will join you as loyal companion! Albeit I don't recommend having it set to any of your characters at this point.

Use 'Lash' here. Jenna found Fog!

Now run back by feet or use Retreat to come back to Master Poi's chamber again. Take the southwestern exit of it and slide down the notch in the floor. Keep spots like these in mind, you'll be sliding down many more of them in the future! Leave the Temple after that. Now you can simply push the gates open to get out...

Slide down here. Out of the temple!

The first test of your journey lies behind, a rare power has even been your reward! That you're also soon going to need it you'll see in the next chapter.
