And now, let the curtains fall and welcome to my walkthrough for the sequel of Golden Sun, which has the nice subtitle of "The Lost Age". Who's just played through the first part is surely already dying of curiousity, but also everybody else can look forward to a really fantastic game! First, let's switch on the GBA and enjoy the truly sublime title music.
Without further ado we get to the menu! Here you can choose various points, but the one we're looking for is obviously "New Game"! Now you can enter the name of your here. For the purpose of this walkthrough I'll stick once again with the standard name, Felix, same with all the other characters.
Afterwards you can transfer your old data from Golden Sun – through Link Cable or password. Very long drawn out process! In case you haven't got any yet or want to enter it at a later point, feel free to simply skip it. Now we get to Isaac's name entry – should you have changed his name in the first game. Didn't do that!
Now you'll be told the back story, that is, what happened in the first Golden Sun. This will be helpful for everyone who doesn't know the first part yet, but everyone else should also be happy to watch the little summary. Once it's over, we'll start...
You're now standing in the Venus Lighthouse, currently close to being lit. Felix says goodbye to Professor Kraden and Jenna, who you'll control at this point, by the way. Through the defused barrier they both go to the room's entrance now. Jenna's visibly concerned about the fate of her friends...
Immediately Alex, your companion, will appear out of nowhere. He thought you would've left the lighthouse a long time ago already, and he's surprised to see that Felix has hold you up and left you. After a weird flirt with Alex Jenna's shocked to hear that Isaac's group's along with them in the lighthouse, as this would mean that in case of conflict Felix would have to fight against his former friend.
Still Alex is convinced that Isaac and his companions would pose no threat to Saturos and Menardi, whatever may happen. He's wrong... After he's mused a little about how important the lighting of this beacon is he'll come back to his senses and tell you they should better be leaving the lighthouse soon. Jenna and Kraden agree, and then you'll come together! From now on you can control Jenna!
The way to the entrance of the lighthouse is rather straightforward and players of the first game should know it by heart. You should now stand in front of a big deep, pass through the gateway beside you. Run across the room and now take the southern door. From here on run to the east end and go downstairs.
In the next room you have to jump over a few platforms in order to reach the other end. You do automatically jump as soon as you push towards the direction of the platform you want to jump on. Such things you'll have to do a thousandfold during your journey! Go upstairs. In front of you there's an opened chest, but you can still find an Herb inside it! Take it with you and go back two rooms, the one with the big deep.
From here on you only have to run southwards. At first you'll reach a room with symbols carved into a wall, but they can be ignored. After going through another room you're finally out of the lighthouse!
Unfortunately you won't get too far here for the time being, as both soldiers from Tolbi and men from Lalivero have waited here to encircle you, a trap! In this situation there's apparently no other way out of it than fighting! Especially because some soldiers have retreated to get some back-up. But Alex knows he can protect you with his powers.
Before he actually does any action he informs you into which direction you'll have to flee and along with that where their meeting point is located. But Jenna and Kraden already knew where to go, to a peninsula called Idejima. Alex knows you'll be able to make it since with your psynergy you have a mighty weapon at disposal.
And now Alex will clear the way for you. After he's sent two of the soldiers off to heaven the remaining men will retreat by own choice. Alex now sees in that the chance for your quickest possible flight! Once he's disappeared you gain control over Jenna again.
From the bottom of the lighthouse on you only have to go west, then you'll reach your goal. Go up a few stairs, then you'll get to some of the fled men. As the warrior of your group isn't with you anymore, he'll get quite sure of himself and the battle begins... But he sure hasn't expected such a showcase of woman power! Heat him up with a little Fume, then he'll give up soon.
In the next area now go up a few more stairs at first. The next guy blocking your way, but luckily he's alone again! Anyway, in battle it's still the same comedy (or tragedy, depending on your view), for you: with Fume you'll shut him up in no time!
On with it! In the following area you now have to climb down the tendrils in front of you. This you also do automatically by pressing in that direction, just like walking. Once you've reached the bottom the cave's now there to explore – but a few guys seem to have something against that idea! Without hesitating they'll attack you as a threesome... But even that won't be too hard! Eliminate one after another Fume and the battle should be over soon (hey, that nearly rhymed!).
The entrance of the cave is now open for you! Enter. Go through the first room and then downstairs. Here proceed as well until you reach a psynergy stone. To much surprise an odd insect, a Punch Ant, will attack you! But just like the other ones you'll have beaten it soon.
After the admittedly not too hard fight an old Kraden first of all needs to have a rest. Still it's only a short way until the peninsula of Idejima! Grab the Psynergy Stone and exit the small cave after a short walk.
Finally on Idejima! Kraden is quite sure that you've gone the right way, as you'll soon find Saturos' and Menardi's boat here. Unfortunately you don't have the required item that moves it... Alex will now appear, he's pleased to see you here. As soon as the beacon's lit the sails should be set, but why does it all take so long? Why aren't Felix and the others back yet?
This question won't be of importance anymore soon, as the fire now shines brightly above the lighthouse! Not to your luck the lighting causes an earthquake that separates Idejima from the mainland and sets the peninsula adrift, pushing it towards the open sea...
And so our little island's adrift on the sea, wither, no one knows...
Everyone who's already played through Golden Sun at least once should know the following cutscene. Jenna and Kraden lie clueless on the ground and muse about recent events... Then Alex will interrupt them because he wants to show something to you. It's the washed-up bodies of Felix and Sheba! Enough of the back story, now your adventure will have its true start...!
In the following scene Sheba and the others will talk about what things have happened atop Venus Lighthouse. Although she's indeed a little baffled to know she's on a drifting island, but even more incredible for the others is her news that Saturos and Menardi have lost to Isaac's group, hadn't it been true! She herself fell off the lighthouse, and Felix jumped after her in an act of heroism. And so they're now on this island...
Felix will finally wake up now, but not much time left for that: mainland in sight, a whole new continent! To much of their disappointment they'll pass it, though... And nothing good's awaiting them.
A tidal wave's approaching Idejima! Even worse, you don't even know what to do in such a situation... Nothing much other than to just endure the wrath of the seas!
Washed up somewhere Felix will now awake, by the by you'll control him from now on. As all arms and legs are still tied, you should now start searching for your friends! After all we're all gentlemen, right?
First off we should naturally start looking for your dear sis. She's really astonished because of the new land and virtually explodes from curiosity. Next one's, as we're nice to the elder people, Professor Kraden. He's more or less very happy about having ended up on solid mainland ground! Last one's Sheba, who also wants to explore the area. Now we can slowly begin to leave Idejima.
You sure have noticed that Alex isn't amongst your group anymore. Kraden thinks he might be searching for a ship so that he can reach the Western Sea, where the two remaining lighthouses are. This should be your goal, too! On the other hand he also tells Sheba that she doesn't have to follow them on their journey if it's against her will – what she doesn't want to hear at all. She's very sure that you'll be in dire need of a Jupiter Adept like her eventually! And thus the group unites again... Leave Idejima!
Finally, freedom on a new continent! From your location on the World Map it's only a short way south to the very first settlement on your journey – it's the small village of Daila!
After all the long cutscenes it's finally time to get going! What plenty things await you in Daila, that's what we'll find out in the next chapter!
