Chapter 17: Djinn and more

And herewith now follows an optional chapter that you could naturally just skip, but I wouldn't really recommend that. As there are lots of djinn and items for you to find before the journey continues towards Tolbi! Go north from Kalay on, then cross the repaired bridge and reach Vault.

The repaired bridge! Before Vault again.

Quite a few things have happened in Vault during your absence. The mayor will tell you something important, as you should already know his house lies in the northwest. You'll get to know that the thieves have escaped, and all that after your tiresome efforts to capture them... Well, whatever. The next station's the Vault Cave. First of all go to a girl inside the inn and get a boner Bone from her. Then go outside again and onto the hill on which also lies the mayor's house. Walk along the long, narrow way until you come to watchtower. Clumb up and ring the bell, this will scare up the djinni!

The thieves have escaped... A bone!. The bell scares up the djinni.

Now run all the way back until you come to a circular constellation of tombstones and a dog. Turn to the dog and give him the bone from the inn. With pleasure it will point out a special spot in the midst of the tombstones for you... Use your Reveal and a hidden cave entrance will forthwith show up!

A hidden entrance!

Inside the cave run straight to the next area. There at the end of the eastern path you'll find a chest, it's a Mimic... Be careful, it's strong! After you've defeated it, take the path to the west and come to the next area. You'll soon dry up the river before you, but at this point you can simply walk through the room.

Inside the cave. Watch out, a Mimic! A river within the cave.

In the next room move the pillar-like torch onto the bronze fire symbol on the ground. The gate will open and let you progress. Run to the end of the following room, there you'll see a shrub. A Whirlwind is all that's needed to come to a chest containing a quite strong Vambrace! Go back, down the ladder and freeze the puddles to ice pillars. After that jump over them to the next area.

Move the pillar onto this. Isaac got a Vambrace! The ice pillars lead you further.

In this area continue west, then take a ladder south of you and follow the way further. In the follwing room you'll now see a stairs after only a few steps. Climb it up and flip the switch. This will open the floodgate and let the water drain off. Go back and quickly down the southern stairs into the next room. Run through the short passage.

The ladder down and move on! The water drains off.

The now following room will give you a challenge: Here as well you'll have to move a torch onto a fire symbol on the ground, but that's definitely not as easy as it might sound! Another blocking pillar as well as water drops dropping down will give you hell here. Move the normal pillar to a place where it doesn't hinder you, then go to the fiery pillar. Move it along the path as shown below. Keep an eye on the spots where the water's dropping down! Wait directly in front of these spots until the water's dropped before you, then move the pillar further IMMEDIATELY. That way should be able to make it. Go upstairs.

A kind of torch puzzle. The way you have to take!

A familiar room – go west and this time up the nearby stairs. Run through tbe next room. As the water's drained off in the following area you can now climb down the ladder and go through the gap in the wall. Struggle along the next room and also the smaller one that follows. Already you're out of the cave!

Now go upstairs here. Close to the exit.

Back to the surface the Venus Djinni should now be sitting directly before you. But really only if you've ring the warning bell before! If not, then you'll have to more or less go all the way and do so first. But otherwise there shouldn't be any problems, talk to "Sap" and it will join you without any doubts!

Sap joined Isaac.

The next station's going to be your natal village, Vale! There's lots to discover with your new friends and abilities. So let's pay the people there at least a short visit!

Back to Vale.

Ah, how it feels to be home again! Quickly refresh yourselves at the big Psynergy Stone at the village square. Then examine the area behind the stone and the trading house. Do you see the shrubs? Whirl them away and a cave will come to light! At its end you can find a chest with some Power Bread.

Get rid of the bush! Isaac got some Power Bread.

Now you should go visit Isaac's dear mother. Her house lies high up on Vale's hilly landscape, but you should still know it, as it was the very first house you've seen in the game! Unfortunately mother Dora doesn't feel too well, she's lying in her bed with a cold. The joy nearly overwhelms her when she sees you standing before her, but soon she'll be disappointed because you haven't finished your mission yet and are thus eventually going to leave again. She assures you that her health isn't in danger at all and that it's just a slight cold. Hopefully so... Her nightmares at least do speak volumes about her worrying about the ones close to her.

Isaac... Just a cold. Or not? Nightmares plague Dora.

And when you're already in Vale there's no reason why you shouldn't visit Garet's family as well! Their house lies directly north of Isaac's. Garet's little brother will stand in front of the house, and Garet is visibly pleased to see his brave youngster. His big sister, who's standing behind the house at the flowerbed, will have words of worry to say about her brother's occasionally lacking brightness, but she's confident about his and your success. In the house itself you can find both his parents and grandparents, happy little big family, ha ha!

All right! Garet's sister is worried, too... Yes, yes, young Garet!

Okay, time for some action again after the familiary audiences! From Garet's house on go northwest, then cross a bridge, go downstairs and finally to the section in the west. Run further and past Kraden's house until you come to a big boulder lying on a fence. Levitate it with Lift and proceed. You'll come to a cave!

You have to lift up this stone. The Vale Cave!

Luckily the Vale Cave is by far not as drawn-out as the one from Vault. Go to the circle of stakes in the water right before you. Cast Reveal here to make a hidden one at the center visible and use it to jump to the other side. Go to the next section. Here jump to a wooden crate on the left side and move it into the water. Then jump to the swimming wooden plank and balance with it to the other shore!

A hidden stake. Move the wooden crate! Balance over the water.

Do a further quick jump to the southern shore and get a Nut from the chest in the following section. Go back and take the northern passage leading to the next area. Simply walk though it. Now you'll be standing before a tree trunk lying on the ground, roll it into the water. Now go north where you can jump over a small gap to the other side. Roll the next trunk into the water and jump down the notch. Then roll the third trunk into the water, it should roll over the two others and eventually make it possible for you to get to the other waterside. On to the next area!

Isaac got a Nut. Roll this tree trunk... And this one, too!

Climb up a ladder in the next room, you can find the Halt Gem in a chest right before you, which will teach you the 'Halt' psynergy. You can even try it out right here! Go the way further and scare up the Jupiter Djinni you'll meet there. It will jump down from the hill, do so as well. After that it will be constantly flee from you when you try approaching it, as there are a few stones which do give it shelter. Now stand close to it and use your Halt – the djinni will be paralysed and thus be at your mercy! Go to it and let "Kite" join you on your quest.

The Halt Gem is yours! You'll only get it with Halt. Kite joined Garet.

Outside of the room you're now at the cave entrance again. As there's nothing left to do at this place leave the cave! And, if you've already seen enough of this village, Vale as well. Actually that's already everything as far as optional things go! But wait, if you're truly hardcore you could furthermore go the long way to Bilibin Cave again, to be exact to the secret entrance, where you've also found the chest with the Elven Rapier! Use Reveal here and go though the hidden passage. Along the next path you'll come to a fire on the ground, extinguish it with a skilful Douse. Let's go further!

A hidden passage! Extinguish the fire.

You should know the next room, you've only walked through it below earlier, but never from that high! Run and jump and follow the way until you come to the end of the path. Here put out a fire on the ground with a Douse, thereupon the puddle beside it will freeze into a frosty pillar. Jump oer it to the last section here. In it you can find two chests with each a Psy Crystal and a Water of Life! Afterwards leave the cave and prepare yourselves for a long, long travel back.

And also this little fire. Isaac got some Water of Life.

Whatever, in any case it's now back to Kalay! And not to have a coffee party with pie there – no, you'll hnow ave to prepare for an adventurous journey over the sea!
