Just like there was the Lama Temple right before you so is the Lamakan Desert now! It's only a little way southwards from the temple on and you're already in the desert.
Hama already warned you that the heat in the desert has become unbearably hot. Indeed your vision's already blurring as soon as you've merely entered it! You can also see a thermometer shown on the left side of the screen. You might want to keep an eye on your body temperature, because you'll get hurt when it gets too hot! It fills up with every step you take while being on the sand, but not when on another surface (keep that in mind!). At first just follow the way, after a kind of turn you'll come to a stone circle. Here Ivan's Reveal psynergy comes into play now! Use it whilst in the stone circle to be able to see a hidden oasis. Jump into it to cool yourselves down. You'll find many more of these oases here, so use each one of them for your refreshment!
Follow the way until it leads to western direction again. You'll then come to a forking at which you continue either westwards or northwards. Both do actually lead to the same place, and both have also a stone circle like the one from earlier. The path to the north harbours another oasis, along the western one you can find a Psynergy Stone. Take whichever you want, but I suppose you'd like to cool down in the oasis again, wouldn't you? :-]
Both will lead you to a passage in the north. Before your there should now be another forking, to the north and east. Firstly take the northern one. Inside the stone circle at the valley's end you can find the Vulcan Axe when you use Reveal there. Now run back to the forking. By the way, it's better to run than walk in the Lamakan Desert! Your body temperature may still rise whatever may come, but this way you'll travel a greater distance... Now take the way leading east. The next stone circle you'll face reveals neither an oasis nor an item, but a monster! It's an Ant Lion, and if you end up trapped in its quicksand nest you'll have to fight it. You'll face many, many more of them here as you venture deeper... When you've defeated it (or not) continue the path to the north. Finally the next oasis follows! =) After a short distance later you'll find yourselves in the next area.
And what an area it is! It's a giant sandy area open for your exploration here. You can get lost pretty quickly, though. To get further here you'd actually only have to keep going west. But as there are many valuable things to be found here you should really search the area for them beforehand! First of all go west starting from the entrance, there's a Potion inside the stone circle. Afterwards go back to the entrance. Now go north, the following stone circle is an oasis. Now follow the wall to your right, the next circle bears another Psynergy Stone. Now go northwest until you come to the next oasis. From here on go south until you come to a composite of two circles. In the left one the fourth Jupiter Djinni's waiting for its discovery! Directly west of it lies the next oasis now. After you've cooled down again go a little southwestwards and you'll come to a circle with a chest that contains 777 coins! Another short walk to the southwest and you'll find the last oasis in this area. Refresh yourselves, in the direct west of it lies the next desert area!
So, how many times have you just had a heat stroke? Anyway, in this area your temperature won't rise as you're not standing on desert sand anymore. This area is pretty straightforwards in comparison. Just run westwards here! You'll cross two 'sandfalls' thereby, these are the only things that can rise your temperature here. So better pass them quickly! You can also climb up to a higher level here, but it won't lead you anywhere... eventually you'll come to a very long, wormed valley. Just run through it. At the end you'll come to see another sandfall. Use your Reveal to see the hidden entrance here.
You're now in a cave inmidst of the desert. But this one's also only a tunnel! So go through the passage and reach the its exit.
Relax, it's already the last part of this desert! After a few steps you can see a sort of step ladder which you can climb down. You're now on the desert sand again, and before your there is... a dinosaur skeleton? Anyway, go further westwards until you reach a formation of even THREE stone circles! In the under one there's a hidden oasis, in the center one an Ant Lion, and a chest with a Mint in the upper one. When you've taken it go back eastwards and climb the step ladder up again.
From here on keep on going west (not that you have too much choice here!). Ignore the higher area here to which you can climb up and run towards the west end. There you will find a sandy area and furthermore another sandfall. Use Reveal here and a Manticore, an awful monster will come face to face with you! Unfortunately it's guarding the passage leading out of this desert. And the roaring already gives it away – it wants to fight!

HP: 1700 The Manticore's going to be your toughest enemy so far. Besides a few strong attacks this monster can eveb attack twice per turn! It'll attack you with its strong fire attacks or its tail, which is able to fatally poison you. Whatever may happen, always have your djinn set, as you're going to need the higher stats! Also the fight will be a lot easier if at least one characters has learned the Wish psynergy. With it you'll be able to heal all group members at once. If you're in possession of four Mercury djinn, give them to Mia. But should you have four Jupiter djinn as well, give those to Mia instead and the Mercury djinn to Ivan! This way both are able to learn Wish. Then make you that at least two members of your group are able to heal poison! Otherwise it could really carry you off. Isaac and Garet can stay in their standard classes, Isaac then uses Ragnarok whilst Garet attacks normally – his fire psynergy isn't very effective here. Let Ivan and Mia only attack when everybody's at perfect health! Good luck... For your victory you'll get 590 experience points, 3400 coins as well as a Psy Crystal. |
Once the Manticore's been defeated you can enter the cave in which the monster lured. To get in simply use your Reveal again. Now run along the tunnel!
And eventually you'll have finally left the desert and be on the World Map again! But new adventures are still ahead of you. Next stop: Kalay!
